I seriously believe that good things come when you least expect them.
I had zero expectations for today. Frankly, I expected going home early after catching up with Deon for max 4 hours, then blogging a very bitter blog post about 11/11/11.
I can't even remember what I did at 11:11 today. I was probably tuning into my iPod, heading to school.

Anyway, I had a KICK-ASS AWESOME day with Deon today. He has been my best guy friend since idk-how-long.
I guess what makes him stand out is that
1) I feel totally at ease with him
2) He's spontaneous
3) We love walking
We decided to head to Haw Par Villa after having lunch at Macs, and from Haw Par Villa we went to Tanjong Pagar to check out the railway station. But it was closed, so we walked to The Pinnacle @ Duxton, which is really swanky. Afterwards we headed to Urban Redevelopment Authority, which was interesting... probably if you took geog. Then we went to the Little Red Dot musuem before going for dinner at Tanjong Pagar market. Then we wanted to walk to the city, but we walked the wrong way initially towards Vivo. Finally we walked past Lau Par Sat, found our way to Raffles Quay, where I spammed night shots before walking towards MBS, along the Helix Bridge to the Esplanade where we watched the water/ light show at MBS. Then we took the train home.
Well, we walked pretty far yesterday. They were all on foot, except for the journey from Haw Par Villa to Tanjong Pagar. We walked around 9km? My knees hurt while Chan's heels hurt... but I seriously dig trekking. Just walking around, making spontaneous decisions, heading to the wrong direction at times.... I'm not the kind if person that would complain. To me, that makes life kinda breathtaking? Not following things according to plan.
And the highlight of the night was the view of the city skyline from Raffles Quay. The best freaking view ever. Gorgeous with a capital G. I was practically squealing, fangirling (over lights), jumping, spamming night shots and amusing the hell out of Chan. I've always loved night lights, and found Singapore's one pretty decent... until I viewed them from a different angle at Raffles Quay. Of course Singapore's lights are kinda measly compared to that of NYC's... but they're still breathtaking. I feel like a Single Girl in the Big City.
Let me tell you, my friends, that kind of night lights is seriously 11/11/11 material.

As you can tell from now, this will be a wordy post... but who cares?? Time to commemorate a Friday well-spent.

Haw Par Villa was disappointing. I expected something more scary, but the sculptures were kind of lame/ ugly. The only thrilling part was when Chan dragged me to an underground cave with RATS. Because of the fear of the unknown, I was afraid there were bats inside/ rats that would scuttle past me, but I'm fine! Emerged out of there in one piece.

The Little Red Dot museum had this 11/11/11 festival, so there was a flea-market inside the museum itself. They were selling their items @ $11 each, but we were mainly more fascinated by the exhibits there. So much potential that would make our lives easier, if they were mass-manufactured. Felt a little underdressed there though, everyone was dressed decently while I felt frumpy in our school-based shirt.

As we were finding our way to Raffles Place, we saw the ERP gantry. It switches off at 8pm, and by that time it was 7.58pm already. Then I pointed out to Chan that there were actually people parking nearby, waiting for the time to be 8 o'clock before driving through it! True enough, the moment it turned 8pm, they started their engines and drove through it. Cheapskates 4 life. That's what I'd do, too.

Passed by Lau Par Sat briefly... we should've ate there! The architecture is gorgeous, and they had this night market event where they closed a road to set up roadside stalls. Saw a girl channelling her inner Adele when she performed with a live band there. She sang Someone Like You. While I appreciate Adele's great talent and vocals, she is seriously overplayed.

After that, I was telling Chan my requirements for an ideal boyfriend. He actually fits quite a few requirements, interests-wise.

THEN WE REACHED THE CITY. What a glorious sight. I could practically hear opera music playing at the back of my head. I was absolutely stunned by the view. I have found the #1 spot for dating, the #1 place I would go on New Year's Eve. It's Raffles Quay, people. Bring your girlfriend there, melt her heart, and she'd be willing to do anything for you.
There were many couples there last night. PDA 101. They were all sucking each other's faces off, and I was like, "get a room, people!" But I think you're permitted to do it, since the backdrop of the city skyline is breathtaking. It'll make nice couple shots on Tumblr.
If you've just lost the l'amour de ta vie (love of your life) or something, DO NOT go to Raffles Quay. Especially on a significant day like 11/11/11. The things you'll see there would turn your stomach inside out and burn the back of your eyes.

As we walked from Raffles Quay to the outside of MBS to the area outside the Esplanade to watch the water/ light shows, there were just couples and more couples..
Hmmm I'm pretty sure a few couples broke up there that day.
And Chan pointed out Venus to me! It happened that the moon was gloriously full, bright and unhidden by any clouds. There appeared to be a very bright star beside it, "too bright" to be a star, claimed Deon. So it's either Venus or an obscenely huge, bright satellite.
I obviously choose to believe it's Venus :D

Canon is a very good brand but it does no justice to night shots.
Photos are up on fb, but I'm editing the night shots and posting them here :)
Enjoy!

Random light shots:

Can you believe some of these buildings are even from Singapore?? I feel as if I emerged from Tokyo or something. They're about 10000x more breathtaking in real life, trust me.
Oh, and I think I found my dream house.

Which reminds me... time to watch The One That Got Away music video! Missed it yesterday.

[edit]
Blah it was disappointing. I mean, I understand the whole rationale behind it, it's so sweet that a part of her would always love the One that got away...
but the music video is so predictable. The car crash was a little lame, if you ask me.
